Author Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in publishing your research in Jurnal Komputasi. To ensure a smooth review and publication process, authors are requested to carefully follow the guidelines below before submitting their manuscripts.

1. General Information

Jurnal Komputasi is a peer-reviewed, open-access scientific journal published by the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Lampung, Indonesia. The journal publishes original research articles and review papers in the fields of computer science, information technology, and related disciplines.

The journal is published twice a year, in May and November.

2. Scope of the Journal

The journal accepts manuscripts in, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • Computer Science
  • Information Systems
  • Software Engineering
  • Data Mining and Data Science
  • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
  • Networking and Communication Systems
  • Multimedia and Interactive Systems
  • Database Systems
  • Emerging Technologies in Computing

3. Manuscript Submission Requirements

Before submission, authors must ensure that:

  • The manuscript is original and has not been published previously.
  • The manuscript is not under consideration by another journal or publisher.
  • All authors have approved the submitted version of the manuscript.
  • The manuscript complies with the journal's ethical standards and publication policies.
  • The manuscript follows the journal template and formatting guidelines.

All submissions must be made through the journal's Online Journal System (OJS).

4. Manuscript Structure

The manuscript should generally contain the following sections:

  1. Title
  2. Author(s) Name and Affiliation
  3. Abstract
  4. Keywords
  5. Introduction
  6. Research Methodology
  7. Results and Discussion
  8. Conclusion
  9. Acknowledgments (optional)
  10. References

Authors are encouraged to provide clear, concise, and well-organized manuscripts.

5. Language

Manuscripts may be written in:

  • English
  • Bahasa Indonesia

The use of clear and grammatically correct language is highly recommended. Authors whose native language is not English are encouraged to have their manuscripts professionally proofread before submission.

6. Manuscript Formatting

Authors should prepare manuscripts according to the journal template with the following general requirements:

  • Paper size: A4
  • File format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)
  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Font size: 11 pt
  • Single line spacing
  • Two-column format (except abstract)
  • Figures and tables should be clearly labeled and cited within the text.
  • Equations should be numbered consecutively.

The recommended manuscript length is 10–12 pages, including figures, tables, and references.

7. Abstract and Keywords

The abstract should:

  • Be written in one paragraph;
  • Contain approximately 150–250 words;
  • Briefly describe the objectives, methods, results, and conclusions of the study;
  • Avoid citations and abbreviations whenever possible.

Provide 3–5 keywords that accurately represent the content of the manuscript.

8. References

Authors are encouraged to:

  • Use recent and relevant references.
  • Cite primary sources whenever possible.
  • Use reputable journals, conference proceedings, books, and official publications.
  • Ensure consistency in citation and reference formatting.

It is strongly recommended that a significant proportion of references come from publications within the last five years.

Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.

9. Ethical Considerations

By submitting a manuscript, authors agree that:

  • The work is original and free from plagiarism.
  • Data and findings are reported accurately.
  • Proper acknowledgment and citation have been provided.
  • Any conflicts of interest have been disclosed.
  • The manuscript does not contain fabricated, falsified, or manipulated data.

All manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism detection software before entering the review process.

10. Peer Review Process

Every manuscript submitted to Jurnal Komputasi undergoes:

  1. Initial editorial screening;
  2. Similarity checking;
  3. Double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers;
  4. Revision process (if required);
  5. Final editorial decision.

The final decision of acceptance or rejection rests with the Editorial Board.

11. Copyright and Open Access

Authors retain the copyright of their work while granting Jurnal Komputasi the right to publish and disseminate the article. All published articles are made freely available under the journal's open-access policy to support the global exchange of scientific knowledge.

12. Author Fees

Jurnal Komputasi currently does not charge any fees for:

  • Manuscript submission;
  • Article processing;
  • Publication;
  • Access to published articles.

There are no submission fees or article processing charges (APCs).

13. Submission Checklist

Before submitting your manuscript, please ensure that:

✓ The manuscript is original and unpublished.
✓ The manuscript follows the journal template.
✓ All references are complete and properly cited.
✓ Figures and tables are properly labeled.
✓ The manuscript has been proofread and checked for grammar and spelling.
✓ All authors have approved the final version.
